Qualifications
Alabama Real Estate Licensing is required. Licensing requirements in Alabama are found at the Alabama Real Estate Commission. Passing a written exam for salespeople is a must. Maintaining membership through the National and Local Board of Realtors is critical, as are continuing education programs that are mandated by law to maintain and increase salesperson knowledge and skills. Continuing education can improve earnings potential and enhance opportunities for success.
For residential real estate, assisting and advising people in buying and selling homes is the most important and basic service a real estate agent performs. Realtors should strive to be experts in the process of buying and selling property, financing, government programs, and the like. This expertise should facilitate transactions and save clients time, stress, effort and money. Thorough knowledge in real estate law, fair housing laws, local economics, types of financing and mortgages, as well as government programs is required. Lastly, a knowledge and commitment to ethical behavior is crucial and must always be a highest of priority.
Commercial real estate brokers specialize in income-producing properties, including: apartments and office buildings, retail stores, shopping centers and industrial properties. The core quality for success is that the salesperson or broker knows why the properties could be good investments and provide growth potential as an investment.
